Brow Goals: How to Go Bold and Beautiful With No Fear
This is me right after my brow lam and stain!

Maybe you’ve thought about getting a brow lamination and stain but held back because you’re worried the look might be too bold. Trust me, I get it! I had the same hesitation myself.
As the owner of Glow Up Studio Dallas, I initially thought brow laminations weren’t for me—until a few of our amazing team members convinced me to give it a try last year. Since then, I’ve spoken with so many clients who share the same concern, but once they see the results, they become total converts. That’s why I decided to show you my own recent brow journey, complete with unfiltered photos (and no makeup-yikes!), so you can see exactly what to expect!

My Bold & Beautiful Brow Journey
Step 1: Choosing the Right Service for You
At Glow Up Studio Dallas, we have 3 brow lamination (or "lam," as we like to call it) services - the Signature, Luxury, and Ultimate 24K. You can pair them with a tint or stain. I always choose the Ultimate 24K Brow Lamination as I’m in my 40s, and I need all the help I can get with keeping and strengthening my hair. I love how gentle our products are and that I’m giving my brows a keratin boost and conditioning treatment while we’re making them more beautiful, too!
Step 2: The Brow Lam
My brow transformation starts with our Master Stylist & Skin Therapist, Awtee, working her magic. She begins by cleansing my brows, then applying the brow lamination solution and letting it sit for a few minutes. Essentially, a brow lam is like a gentle perm for your eyebrows, designed to straighten and smooth the hairs for a more refined, polished look. Once the “perm” part is completed, Awtee applies multiple keratin and conditioning treatments to strengthen and nourish my brows. It’s quick, easy, and completely painless—just a few minutes for the product to work its wonders, and voilà! One of the major benefits of the brow lam for me is how it balances and evens out my brows. I’ve always had to rely on brow powders or gel because I have a crazy little cowlick on my left brow. Who even gets a cowlick in their eyebrows? Me, apparently! It’s been a lifelong frustration, but the brow lam straightens it out and balances my brows perfectly with the right side. Hoorah! What I wouldn’t have given for this treatment back in my college days…
Step 3: Brow Mapping
The next step in my brow transformation is brow mapping—an essential part of creating the perfect shape. Awtee carefully outlines the natural contours of my brows, tailoring the design to suit my facial features and personal preferences. She uses precise calculations to determine the correct ratios, ensuring balance and symmetry.
This step is especially important for addressing areas where my brows are naturally uneven. Watching how detailed and thoughtful this process is always fascinates me—it’s truly an art form! Brow mapping is what makes every result at Glow Up Studio Dallas so personalized and flawless.
With the perfect shape mapped out, we’re ready to move on to the star of the show—the brow stain!
Step 4: The Brow Stain
At Glow Up Studio Dallas, we offer two types of semi-permanent brow coloring—tint and stain. Tint dyes ONLY your brow hairs, but stain dyes both your brow hairs AND your skin, giving it longer-lasting results! If you’re curious about the differences, check out our Brow Tinting and Staining guide.
For me, choosing stain over tint is a game-changer. My crazy cowlick needs some extra help to achieve a “filled in” look, and the stain lasts up to two weeks on my skin and four to six weeks on my brow hairs. Now, full disclosure: I do use an oil-based facial cleanser at night, which can cause the color to fade faster (you’re supposed to avoid oil cleansers to extend the stain’s longevity). But I love my Purity Solution too much to give it up! That’s a story for another blog—next time. ☺️
Back to the process… After Awtee completes the mapping, she applies the stain to create beautifully bold brows—much more defined than my natural look. By the next day, my brows look absolutely fabulous. If I have an event or special occasion, I always schedule my brow appointment 1-2 days in advance to make sure my brows are picture-perfect and at their peak for all those party photos!
Step 5: The Reveal
The journey doesn’t end when you leave the studio—this is where your Bold & Beautiful brows truly come to life over the next few days!
Before: I have thin but nicely arched and dark brows (no greys yet!). I love a brow lam and stain for some extra polish and oomph!
Day 0: Freshly laminated and stained—yes, it’s bold! My brows look super sleek and en fleek. My kids always look at me funny when I come back from having them done, but they know tomorrow I will look more like natural mom!
Day 1: The stain begins to settle, and the boldness starts to soften. My brows still look defined but less intense than the day before.
Day 2: By now, my brows look natural and full, with perfectly groomed hairs framing my face. I don't have to use brow powder to fill in my brows —just a sweep with a brow brush and maybe a light gel, and I'm good to go!
Day 3: Fluffy, polished, and oh-so-natural. Still looking great! I also got a Lash Lift + Tint - I have shorter eyelashes, so it’s nice to have them defined without mascara.
