How often do I need to have a lash fill?

Once you’ve committed to a full set of lash extensions, keeping your lashes full and fabulous will be a priority. For optimal results, we recommend a lash fill every two weeks to maintain that perfect lash line. While you can stretch a fill to three weeks, please note that this may require a longer, more costly session, as your stylist will need extra time for cleaning and prep. After four weeks, you’ll need a new full set due to the natural lash shedding cycle (see our Lash Fill Policy). A regular fill schedule is key to keeping your lashes looking their best, and we recommend booking standing appointments to ensure you see your favorite stylist every time!

Top Tips for Lash Maintenance

  • Stick to a Consistent Lash Fill Schedule: Book standing appointments to help you stay on track and know when it’s time for a salon visit.

  • Avoid Waterproof Mascara and Oil/Alcohol-Based Products: These products can weaken the lash adhesive, leading to more frequent lash shedding.

  • Wash Your Lashes Daily: Cleansing is essential to remove natural oils, makeup, and buildup. Check out our step-by-step guide and video on how to wash your lashes properly.

  • Be Gentle with Your Lashes: Avoid pulling or rubbing them to prolong their lifespan.

Frequently Asked Questions about Lash Extensions

  • Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent fibers that are individually applied to your natural eyelashes to enhance their length, thickness, and curl. They are made from synthetic materials, mink, silk, or other types of fibers.

  • Eyelash extensions typically last through the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes, which is about 6-8 weeks. However, touch-ups are usually needed every 2-3 weeks to maintain a full look as your natural lashes shed and new ones grow in.

  • No, the application process should not hurt. Most people find it relaxing and often fall asleep. If you experience any discomfort or pain, inform your technician immediately.

  • Arrive with a clean face, free of makeup, especially eye makeup. Avoid using oil-based products around your eyes for at least 24 hours before your appointment. Remove contact lenses to prevent irritation during the application process.

  • Avoid getting your lashes wet for the first 24-48 hours to allow the adhesive to fully cure. Avoid steam, saunas, and swimming during this period. Use oil-free makeup remover and avoid rubbing or pulling on your lashes.

  • Yes, but you should avoid oil-based makeup and waterproof mascara, as they can break down the adhesive. Use water-based or lash extension-friendly products and be gentle when removing makeup.

  • Use a gentle, oil-free cleanser and a clean spoolie brush to clean your lashes. Brush them gently to remove any debris or buildup and to keep them looking neat.

  • The technician isolates one natural eyelash and applies a single extension or a fan of extensions to it using a special adhesive. This process is repeated for each natural lash, which can take 1-2 hours depending on the desired look.

  • Extensions come in various lengths, thicknesses, and curls. Common types include classic (one extension per natural lash), volume (multiple finer extensions per natural lash), and hybrid (a mix of classic and volume).

  • When applied correctly by a trained professional, eyelash extensions are generally safe. However, improper application or the use of poor-quality materials can lead to issues such as irritation, infection, or damage to natural lashes.

  • If properly applied and cared for, eyelash extensions should not damage your natural lashes. However, improper application or excessive rubbing/pulling can lead to damage or loss of natural lashes.

  • Avoid using oil-based products, waterproof mascara, and heavy eye makeup. Do not rub or tug at your lashes. Avoid excessive exposure to heat, steam, and water, especially within the first 24-48 hours after application.

  • Yes, but inform your technician if you have sensitive eyes or allergies. They can use a hypoallergenic adhesive and take extra precautions to minimize irritation.

  • It is best to have your extensions removed by a professional to avoid damaging your natural lashes. They will use a special remover to dissolve the adhesive safely.

  • After 4-months of research, development and production, working directly with a world leading manufacturer, we introduced our own branded lash extensions called "Lash Lovers Lash Extensions" in the Fall 2020. We focused on four areas to improve the quality of our lash extensions product: Weight, Adherence, Variety and Application ease.

Our new lashes are lighter, adhere better and last longer, come in more varieties and are easier to work with. We only use Lash Lovers Lash Extensions in our services. They come in a broad range of varieties to offer guests the opportunity to have their style customized to their eye shape and preferred styles.

    • Curl: CC, D

    • Diameters: 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, 0.15

    • Lengths: 8mm to 15mm in most varieties

    • Options: Flat Lash options vs traditional spherical

  • Lash Fills are usually recommended every 2-3 weeks to replace any extensions that have shed and to maintain a full, uniform look.

Please note, the longevity of your lash extensions are directly connected to your natural lash growth and how well you care for them (See Aftercare). For Refills, if you have experienced an unusual amount of fall out in the first 3-days and have followed our after care procedures and still feel that you are not seeing the ideal result, please call so we can book you in for an immediate consult and repair at no cost.

  • The first 48 hours after having eyelash extensions are the most important. We ask that you avoid sports and recreation activities that cause you to sweat, and especially those taking place in humid conditions. Examples include but are not limited to swimming, showering, visits to spas and saunas, tanning. After the initial 48 hours you can return to your regular routine as the lash adhesive will be fully secure. It is still advised however to steer clear of high temperature and humidity saunas as they can loosen the adhesive bond prematurely.

  • Allergic reactions to eyelash extensions are very rare and unlikely, but they do happen. A reaction normally occurs within the first 72 hours post service and can include symptoms such as redness, swelling on the lid and itching. The severity of reaction differs drastically, from very mild and brief itchiness, all the way up to swelling, soreness and redness. It can be very uncomfortable and unfortunately, if you have reacted in the past to eyelash extensions, it is very likely you will react again.

Allergic reactions to lash extensions is caused by an allergy to the main ingredient in the eyelash extension glue called cyancrylate. It is in every eyelash extension adhesive and it’s actually a reaction to the fumes released by the glue, not the glue touching your skin (because at good lash salons the glue should never touch your skin).

MYTH: Eyelash extension reactions are caused because formaldehyde is in the glue. This is simply not true. We only use the highest-quality adhesives and ones that are fast-drying with low fumes. The only two ingredients are Cyonacrylate and Black Pigment.

  • Guests understand and consent that in rare occasions there are risks associated with having artificial eyelashes and that in rare circumstances, eye or skin irritation and discomfort may occur. We guarantee our eyelash extension applications and always stands behind our work. However, guests understand that as an allergic reaction is something that is out of Glow Up Studio’s control, that they will not receive a refund on their Full Set should they have a reaction. Should a reaction have occurred, a professional removal by your stylist will be offered to the guest at no charge and a refund of the Savings Plan Fee charged at checkout.
